MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ flagship SoC-powered 5G smartphones from leading brands is launched in India in 2021.
MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ specs and features
While most chips are manufactured on TSMC foundries, the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ takes after its predecessor, relying on a 7nm EUV manufacturing process from Samsung. It features four high-performane ARM Cortex-A77 cores clocked at 2.6GHz and four ARM Cortex-A55 efficiency cores clocked at 2GHz, along with a 9-core Mali G77 MP9 GPU. The core configuration remains the same as the MediaTek Dimensity 1000, but this one can support 144Hz FHD+ displays, and an enhanced MiraVision Engine for SDR to HDR conversion, and HDR10+ support. The Dimensity 1000+ also rocks the Hyper Engine 2.0 for scaling the CPU and GPU frequencies, and there are multiple enhancements in place that make this quite a titillating gaming SoC. And if history serves as predecedence, smartphones powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ might not be too expensive.
The MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC also comes with the company’s own 5G modem that has features to dynamically switch between low and high badwidths depending on the app. MediaTek claims this helps save power by up to 32 per cent. At full throttle, the 5G modem delivers 4.7Gbps downlink and 2.5Gbps uplink by aggregating two 5G sub-6GHz links. It also supports 5G connectivity on both SIM cards, along with VoNR or Voice over New Radio.
Furthermore, the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ has what it calls ‘anti-jamming’ technology for WiFi and Bluetooth for undue interference. This will likely help gamers when they connect both, a wireless headphone and controller to the smartphone while gaming. It’s also the first mobile SoC to support AV1 hardware coding which is the latest video streaming standard that bring more visual details, crisper sounds and higher resolutions.
For imaging, the Dimensity 1000+ relies on its 5-core Imagiq ISP that comes with dedicated hardware accelerators for HDR imaging. The hexa-core APU 3.0 delivers a claimed 4.5 TOPS AI performance.
